Workshops

All of my teaching revolves around passing on to others what I know about shibori dyeing on cotton fabric with fiber reactive dyes.  This is a somewhat limited knowledge of dyestuffs; however, it is NOT a limited playground for possibilities.

So far I have no desire or reason to make quilts from anything but cotton fabric.  All of my dyeing is to that end: making quilts.  All of my teaching is to that end as well.  (This info is for those of you who want to dye silk, and want to learn how to do it.  You would be better served by taking a workshop from someone else.)

2-day and 3-day workshops are dyeing-only workshops.  Shibori techniques on cotton.

5-day workshops pursue involvement with this fabric: designing/forming relationships/more dyeing to meet specific design needs.  I will not let you dye for 5 days in order to leave with a stash.  Knowledge is your stash.  Days 3, 4 and 5 require serious pursuit of design and focussed dyeing, with my critique and suggestions.

Hope to see you at a workshop somewhere!

The dyeing really is the lion’s share of the creative process for me.  Of course it matters what I DO with the fabrics - but it is the exploration of color relationships within a single piece of fabric that excites me these days.
